WEEK 19/52: Christmastime Again

About a month ago Joel and I started discussing what we were going to do for the Brunswick Project for the Christmas season. There were a few ideas floating around of classic songs that we could cover, but, in the spirit of the Project, it also seemed like a good opportunity to write a new Christmas song (cause God knows there aren’t enough already). We ended up doing both, and so we’re glad to bring you our Brunswick Christmas Mini Album. “Christmastime Again” is our original contribution to the canon of holiday songs, and with the help of our very talented friend Jocelyn Geddie, please enjoy two bonus tracks this week: Baby It’s Cold Outside and Winter Wonderland

Music / Lyrics: Steve Cruickshank
Production: Steve Cruickshank
Photography: Dave Burton
Special thanks to Nancy Yeandle for the use of her piano.

LYRICS

There’s a song in the air, snowflakes in my hair
It’s Christmastime again
I’m hitting the slopes with a couple of folks
It’s Christmastime again
And when we’re cold from the storm
And eggnog and rum will keep us warm
I’m seeing more of the ones that I love
It’s Christmastime again

The city is bright with neighbourhood lights
It’s Christmastime again
The reds and the greens, the nativity scenes
It’s Christmastime again
We’re hanging the stockings and the wreath
By the tree with the gifts underneath
The fire’s ablaze, I’m counting the days
It’s Christmastime again

And with the end of another year
Filled with many tears and smiles
We give thanks for the things we have
As we sing and laugh awhile

It’s just once a year, I’m glad that it’s here
It’s Christmastime again
